DE Da’Quan Bowers -Clemson

2011 NFL Draft Defensive End Da'Quan Bowers Clemson

2011 NFL Draft Defensive End Da'Quan Bowers Clemson SackWith Andrew Luck headed back to school there is alot of talk that Nick Fairley will be the No. 1 overall pick by the Panthers, Clemson’s Da’Quan Bowers will make a strong case when everything is said and done. Bowers is a rare elite athlete with the combination of playing speed, explosive closing ability and strength for a defensive end, as well as great hands and competitiveness. Bowers was one of the top recruits in the country coming out of high school and made an immediate impact as a freshman. He constantly makes plays on runs at him and away from him and has a vast variety of pass rush moves and uses his hands extremely well. He’s able to defeat the offensive tackle after jolting him with his initial punch and does an excellent job of getting his hands up to deflect passes. Bowers gets to full speed and put pressure on the offensive tackle in the blink of an eye; he has outstanding instincts and awareness. He has a natural instinct for where the play is going, as he is often able to get free from the block just in time to make the play and is constantly around the ball. He can explode into his man to make the violent tackle, has an explosive closing burst to finish the play. His rare athleticism and elite passrushing skills should carry over into the NFL and Bowers will likely be off the board in the first three picks and has a big chance to be the No. 1 overall selection.
